We are so grateful to have you here! Did you know that when you shop with us, you are not only supporting a small business, but our mission to give back to the type 1 diabetes community? 

Back in 2014, I was home recovering from a bilateral mastectomy when Pretty Simple was born. I knew that God was calling me to be home, to be more available for my husband and children, and cancer is just what I needed to give me the courage to make the leap. You see, I am a nurse by trade. I knew nothing about opening a boutique, or starting my own brand. But when your WHY is fierce, you figure things out. And that is exactly what I did! With a lot of help from Google, friends, and by the grace of God, Pretty Simple took off faster than I could have dreamed. 

In hindsight, I believe it was in part because 2 years later, my 10 year old daughter would be diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. We felt as though our world had been shaken yet again with a medical diagnosis. Except this time, there was no cure. And it was my daughter, not me. As a parent, there is nothing more heart wrenching than to watch your child struggle, and not be able to make the hurt go away. 

Pretty Simple has provided a lifestyle that allows me to be able to run up to school at a moment's notice. To check in with my daughter when her blood sugar is running high, or even run home when I see her blood sugar dropping. It also allows for a more flexible schedule after being up all night bolusing, changing pump sites, or treating lows.

Pretty Simple has been able to provide in other ways too. When your daughter is diagnosed with a disease like type 1 diabetes, you’ll do everything possible to find a cure. We can’t just sit back and wait. So we are not waiting. We donate a portion of all Pretty Simple proceeds and every penny possible from the sale of our CURE mittens to the type 1 community. Our goal is to raise 1 million dollars, and know with your help, we can get there!"

"Spoil yourself rotten and give back"

When we launched our accessories boutique and made our motto, we knew the value of giving and empowerment was a necessary message to weave into everything we did.  We continue to donate a portion of all sales forever to our favorite organizations. We support the following charities to enable strong, independent women around the world and their families. We are also focused on bringing in brands that are focused on charitable causes, artisan living wage support and artisan empowerment.

We are most focused on empowerment and human rights however we are always looking for other powerful organizations to support. #MATTEobsession - MAC Retro Matte Liquid 0

We are on a mission to score the best matte lip and are documenting every step. Our next test came from a consistent friend in beauty - MAC.  Jumping on the liquid matte bandwagon, MAC did not want to be outdone. The verdict?

We tried two shades, High Drama for a deep dramatic berry look and Fuchsia Flicker for a bright look for spring.

#Warning

- Goes liquid to matte so make sure to let dry before putting those lips on everything.  This one takes a bit of time

- Be prepped with a great makeup remover/wipes for your lips.  We prefer Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Wipes with Cotton Extract or Simple Cleansing Micellar Water, some cleanup and touch up might be needed for a very slight touch of bleed.

-Highly staining! Be careful with the darker tones!

#MATTEobsession - Lime Crime Velvetines 2

We are on a mission to score the best matte lip and are documenting every step. Our next discovery came by way of Urban Outfitters, which now carries Lime Crime makeup!

Somewhat of an accidental find, we are impressed with many things we found, including their Velvetines liquid to matte lipstick.  The wand provides perfect coverage and the liquid goes on smoothly without feathering. NO FEATHERING! It has true staying power but can stain if it is not allowed to dry fully (which only takes a minute).  It has a true matte velvet finish, rich color yet does not dry out the lip. Pencil not required except for shaping. And, totally our own personal thing but we are incredibly obsessed with products that smell DELICIOUS.
